Wedding Craft #6: Ring Boy Pillow

Andrew, our ring boy
I have the greatest nephew, ever. He's super cute and knows everything and anything about dinosaurs. He loves himself some T-Rex, but he also really loves being a "good boy" and taking on lots of responsibility. He took his duties as ring boy very seriously. Holding onto a pillow with our rings was not a joke for Andrew, he was extremely focused and ready to protect these rings and the pillow. I made the pillow using vintage handkerchiefs, from the same batch of hankies I used to make our invites.

First, I sewed a piece of vintage ribbon in the middle of one of the hankies. I then sewed the two hankies together, leaving room to stuff the pillow. After stuffing the pillow, I sewed it shut, and that was it! Super easy! It looked real cute with Andrew's snappy outfit too!

Here he is, pictured with my sister (his mama). Thanks for all the good work, Andrew!

New Curtain

It was easy, less than $10, and all done in under 30 minutes!
Curtain, after
Our curtain wasn't always so cheerful and bright. When we moved in, this is what we were given:
Before
Since I spend so much time in this kitchen, I wanted something a little happier. I went with this bright blue fabric, to go with our blue Kitchenaid products.

After I measured, I ironed..

Out Of Hibernation

I am back! Oh dear friends, the past two-three months have been a whirlwind of activity and I am tired. What have I been up to? Well, I finally graduated! Just about one year ago today, I started my first day of school, and here I am today... a little bit smarter and a whole lot more exhausted. Oh yea, and I have a new quilt! Remember that little scrappy library school quilt I started when I began my library school courses? Well, that's done now!

And the back...

I left a yellow polka dot border on the back, so that I may eventually embroider over. Not today, but eventually. Like I said, I'm still pretty exhausted and am slowly coming out of my hibernation period. Yet, I have a lot to update you all on, and I can assure you it won't take 3 months next time!

Scrap Quilt Top

I think the quilt top is finished!
Scrap Quilt Top
Of course, I might add more, but I think I'm done with it. Right now, the top is 72"x92". My only fear is of how much this quilt might shrink when I square it off with the batting and eventually the back. Speaking of, I'm at a real loss of ideas for the back of this quilt too. I know I want to add my librarian embroidery, but I'm not sure what else. I'm also not sure what type of stitching pattern to use when I quilt the layers, but I guess there's plenty of time for me to think about that. In about 5 weeks, I'll officially be halfway done with library school, so I'm glad to almost officially be done with the top half of my quilt! After I graduate, snuggling up in this quilt is going to be as good a feeling as holding a diploma.
